Pies and jams and snacks, oh my!

Our orchard is now underway! We went to a local nursery and picked out 2 apple, 2 plum and 2 cherry trees! We planned on 2 cherry bushes and 2 peach trees, but stock and weather conditions put those on hold for this year.

We hope that we will be adding our blueberry bushes soon!

Also, in addition to human neighbors building on the lot next door, we have neighbors at our pond!

This beautiful Canada Goose is broody! John was actually able to get up pretty close and get the picture. He was actually checking on her. We went to see the new trees and walking around we found some scat from a coydog or coyote and we didn't see her mate! We hoped for the best but we were worried. John was able to walk over to her to make sure that she was still doing well - he noted that she seemed lethargic, but was moving. I did some research to see what they eat, and happily found that she would be able to find food right were she was.

Even better news - we were there today (Sunday) and were walking back to show Ash the trees and the clearings and we saw HIM!! Her mate, he's back and once again standing guard for her! We're excited to see them together - and are looking forward to the goslings. We know that once they come mom and dad may not be as accepting of our presence as they are now.....but we'll be happy to set aside our work at the pond for a little while as the goslings grow....besides we'll have our little flock to keep us busy!

Life at The Gathering is moving forward ..... soon we will begin work on the one time camp/house and hopefully bring her back to her glory!
